THE GAME PLAN
Introducing users to a new form of travel
The trains VHO is designing will rapidly expand our current boundaries for travel. With VHO’s speeds, a travel can get to Portland, or to San Francisco, ca in a little over an hour. The app needed to be designed to communicate this expansion, and clearly indicate to users how they could travel far-reaching distances in short amounts of time. To meet this need for clarity, we designed the app to feature an interactive map that allowed a user to see how far they can travel within a given time span, and tested it with target audiences.
IMPACT
The concept passenger app was published by Virgin Hyperloop one and here at the 2018 CES conference. The app is continued to be tested and re-designed as VHO develops their platform, with trains targeted for live testing in the mid-2020s.
Rider app
Virgin Hyperloop One (VHO) is a transportation start-up with a vision to transport people through near-vacuum super-speed trains that travel up to 600mph.
With a goal to launch in the 2020s, VHO needed to design an intuitive mobile app that would help communicate the concept of their new form of transportation to passengers.

Design a mobile app that can communicate VHO’s new experience of travel to users efficiently, beautifully, and clearly.
WHAT I DID
Supported UX research, strategy and design efforts with particle, VHO, and here to investigate potential app concerns and opportunities for users. Then, translate the insights into feature modifications to launch the mobile app experience.
